Evonna. Blanket. June 02nd , 2017.
Down blankets or down comforters are made with layers of fine feathers from ducks and geese. Down has an excellent thermal quality and is light-weight. The density of down will determine the amount of warmth. Some down comforters claim that they are washable, but the feathers can clump together when exposed to moisture and are susceptible to mildew. The feathers can also retain odors. It is highly recommended that you have the comforter professionally cleaned.
To make the blanket more attractive, you can use several graphics available. Cartoon characters are worldwide baby favorites. You will most likely find these graphic designs on the blankets. Designs such as Hello Kitty and Disney characters are the most common. People who customize blankets may use graphics of babies with a preferred cartoon character. The character`s name can also be used in personalizing blankets. For instance, the blanket can be printed with Minnie Mouse and Baby Luke.
And to add to that, their blankets are not even subject to basic hygiene, some blankets sent for testing have been discovered to have everything from mucus, teardrops, and lipstick to bodily fluids that I will allow you to imagine on your own. Given this would you really like to use the airline blanket offered anyway? I guess not!
You can personalize these blankets in a lot of ways. If you want to keep it simple, you can monogram or embroider the baby`s name on the blanket. You can also include a message if you want to. For instance, you can add a message like `You`re such a blessing`. At times, people don`t like putting a long message on the blanket. In this case, the baby`s name or a descriptive word can be used. It`s common to find blankets having a message like `Naughty Amanda` or `Pretty Jean` or `Sweet Krista`.
We will start with cotton blankets. Cotton has been around for thousands of years and is a major player in all bedding. Using cotton alone for a blanket really didn`t work well because it will not stand up to frequent washings. When synthetics were discovered it was decided to blend them with the cotton to add strength and durability for a better blanket. Fibers like polyester and acrylic will improve a cotton blanket, especially if you are looking for a blanket that will not wrinkle very much and can be washed quite often. But if you have allergies or sensitive skin a 100% cotton blanket would be better for you. For a heavier cotton blanket you should look for a woven cotton blanket in a herringbone mesh pattern or a basket weave pattern to keep you warm and will still be breathable and soft.
