Evonna. Blanket. June 09th , 2017.
You would think with all the added stress you have to go through when traveling, that by the time you got to your seat that you could just lower your seat and relax. Ahh! but then the cabin is too chilly and when you ask for an airline blanket, you have to rent it?
A blanket is undoubtedly a newborn`s best friend. Even, many babies don`t get ready to sleep without it. Therefore, buying an appropriate blanket for your little one becomes obligatory for you. With several types of baby blankets available in the market today, deciding which one is perfectly suitable for your newborn is really a daunting task. However, if you already know what different types of baby blankets are, it becomes quite easy for you to buy a perfect one for your infant.
The most important aspect to factor in: what will you use the blanket for? Are you looking for a waterproof picnic blanket, a blanket for your dog or are you going out camping and hiking for a long period of time? Some waterproof blankets are specifically made to cover yourself. Which means they will have soft outer layers on both sides while other blankets are made for activities such as a picnic, for people to sit on. Those blankets will have a waterproof layer on the bottom side. Waterproof blankets made for camping will often be heavier as they require more durable and warmer materials, such as fleece or down.
We will start with cotton blankets. Cotton has been around for thousands of years and is a major player in all bedding. Using cotton alone for a blanket really didn`t work well because it will not stand up to frequent washings. When synthetics were discovered it was decided to blend them with the cotton to add strength and durability for a better blanket. Fibers like polyester and acrylic will improve a cotton blanket, especially if you are looking for a blanket that will not wrinkle very much and can be washed quite often. But if you have allergies or sensitive skin a 100% cotton blanket would be better for you. For a heavier cotton blanket you should look for a woven cotton blanket in a herringbone mesh pattern or a basket weave pattern to keep you warm and will still be breathable and soft.
Down blankets or down comforters are made with layers of fine feathers from ducks and geese. Down has an excellent thermal quality and is light-weight. The density of down will determine the amount of warmth. Some down comforters claim that they are washable, but the feathers can clump together when exposed to moisture and are susceptible to mildew. The feathers can also retain odors. It is highly recommended that you have the comforter professionally cleaned.
